This Full Moon of March 2003 is a powerful time.
Much hangs on these hours, these minutes, these seconds.
We have said that the Full Moon is a time of celebration.
Many of us are wondering what there is to celebrate with war so close
that we can feel its hot breath upon our bare skin.
How can we possibly party on the eve of bloodshed?
How can we sing when we know that lives will be lost, and homes torn apart?
How can we feel good about ourselves when these events seem out of our control?
How can we rejoice when alliances and friendships are being torn apart?
Do any of us, of any political persuasion, relish the thought of death and destruction?
Even the moon is not immune from these influences.
Our precious Full Moon is being used in calculations as to when would be a good time to start a war.
Our spiritual lives are not separate from the daily events in which we participate.

Now, more than ever we each need to shine our light in the world, to see a bigger picture,
to hold a higher vision. Now is the time to let our hearts shine more brightly than we have
ever thought possible, to speak our truth from the depths of our being.
At this Full Moon we are being called to be bigger than our fears, bigger than any negativity
 we might carry,
to shine the light in places of darkness both within and without.
Every single one of us makes a difference in this world.
When you shine your light, the world is a brighter place.
When both you and I shine our light, and join with others who are doing the same,
we illuminate the darkness. Let us agree to do that together tonight, to bathe the world in our light.
We may not know the outcome; let?s do it anyway.

Tonight we are being asked to reach out and hold close the people we love.
To value and appreciate those in our lives who have given us so much. And tell them so.
We are also being asked to reach out and embrace those with whom we disagree,
to be bigger than the ?them and us? mentality.
To have the ears and hearts to hear what each
other are saying, across the walls that so often divide us. To not let war and talk of war take away
our humanity, our knowingness that we are all one people and that we are all in this life together.
We are being asked to reach out to everyone we know around the world, to renew contacts
that maybe we have neglected, to tell people that we care about them.

Tonight we join in meditation all who read these words.
We celebrate you, your uniqueness, your beauty and your contribution.
We celebrate you for the person you are, without you having to do anything to earn our appreciation.
We celebrate ourselves for our ability to shine our light even when the night is dark.
Let us tonight shine our light together and make a difference in the world.
We invite you to light a candle to symbolize our oneness around the planet.
