"NEW BEGINNINGS"

This year the global celebrations for the start of a New Year were muted in the wake of recent events in Asia. The seas of the Indian Ocean responded to a massive earth shift, bringing death and destruction to hundreds of thousands of people. The scale of the events, unknown in recorded history, continues to unfold day by day. The magnitude and horror of what has taken place is difficult to comprehend. There is not a person alive today who is unaffected by what took place. Countless survivors in Asia face unimaginable losses - loss of their entire families, friends, communities, homes, livelihoods, and infrastructure. In the midst of their grief they scramble for shelter, food, water, health care and support. The world has responded with an outpouring of giving. Our hearts go out to each and every person in the affected areas. And since there are people dead or missing from most countries of the world, our hearts go out to those affected in every land.

Rather than consider why this happened, let us look forward. Regular readers of these articles will be familiar with the work of Matsuru Emoto, showing us the power of water to carry our thoughts and words. We have seen the incredible power of water in these past two weeks. Now we can use the power of water to carry our love, compassion and support to the regions affected by the tsunamis. Each time you come into contact with water throughout your day, take the time to thank and bless it and to send your love to the peoples of Asia. This simple act has untold power.

Whatever the cause of the death and destruction, it has created a massive opening for grace to pour in. Just as personal disaster can bring unexpected gifts, so too can disaster on a world scale. Each of us can probably think of blessings that have come about as a result of this tsunami, your inbox may be full of such ideas. The international outpouring; the feeling of the world as one community; the cancellation of debts of Asian countries; and so on. The present day, so close to the massive detonation of death, is a time of especial blessings. Use your time consciously, to allow that grace to work deep within your being. This is an opportunity given to you by all those people who have died. Be open to the light that is flooding into our planet. This is a gift for you.

The magnitude of the earthquake under the Indian Ocean was large enough to cause the earth to wobble on its axis. The earth is now spinning infinitesimally faster. Some astrologers have said that this wobble has caused a shift in the ability of astrology to predict our future. It’s as if we have had such a major shake up, that what we knew no longer applies. While astrology can predict our past, there has been such a shift that it has limited ability to predict our future.

This means that you are now, today, free of your past. Take a moment to breathe that in. Your past can longer define you, control you, determine or shape your present or your future. You are the one who gets to select from the past what you want to bring forward. While in a sense this has always been true, there is especial power to this truth right now. You can be anything you want.

Happy New Year! Truly a New Beginning. May your path be blessed every step of the way. May you fulfill your destiny. May you feel joy in every breath. May you partake fully in the sacred blessings of these times. May you feel oneness with all that is.
